Baseball can be a contact sport at times. It can exact a harsh toll on a player's body. In a recent game against Antioch Coal Miners, Fireballs second baseman Sadahige Taniguchi was injured making a defensive play and is expected to miss 7-8 months with a broken kneecap. The team did not announce any roster moves today related to this injury. The Joplin skipper told BNN that personnel decisions would be announced as early as tomorrow.
This year Taniguchi has socked 48 hits in 183 at-bats for a .262 average with 4 home runs. He is getting on base at a .348 pace and his totals also include 17 RBIs and 45 runs scored.
