5-6 Day for Stonard Tuesday, June 21st, 2022 Nelson Stonard exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Albuquerque Sports Stadium. The Albuquerque second baseman had a field day in the 12-7 triumph over the Winston Unionists, finishing with a 5-6 day and a spot in the league record book. "My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Well, Stonard must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat. Nelson Stonard doubled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off François Perez in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th. So far this season Stonard is hitting .284 with 6 home runs, 27 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He has 54 hits in 190 at-bats and a .338 OBP. |
