Coal Miners Chill Verney's Hot Streak Monday, May 30th, 2022 The Bronx Bombers lost to the Antioch Coal Miners 5-3 today at The Coal Mine, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Graham Verney's 26-game hitting streak. "We felt if we could slow down Verney, we would win the game," the Coal Miners manager explained after the game. "They really seemed to feed off of his streak, so we really wanted to make sure they had nothing to feed off of." This season Verney is swinging the bat at a .401 rate with 75 hits in 187 at-bats. To date he has hit 3 home runs, scored 26 runs and driven in 27. |
