Coal Miners Ortega and Fireballs Green Suspended for Fight Sunday, May 23rd, 2021 Tempers were flaring yesterday at The Coal Mine. Both the Coal Miners and Fireballs were defending their turf. A few punches were thrown, but fortunately very few landed -- there was more wrestling than fighting. When the umpires sorted everything out, Antioch's Manuel Ortega and Joplin's Billy Green were ejected from the game. Today the league office suspended Ortega and Green for 7 games each. This year Ortega has hit at a .256 pace and produced 12 RBIs, no home runs and scored 11 runs. To date this season Green is 2-3 with 8 starts and an ERA of 4.81 with 33 strikeouts in 39.1 innings. |
