Hobbs Hits for the Cycle
Saturday, June 28th, 2025
"Ladies and gentlemen, Mike Hobbs has just hit for the cycle!" That was the call from the PA announcer as Hobbs collected the last hit he needed to complete the cycle today against the Marauders. He collected 4 hits in 6 at-bats, 4 runs batted in and 1 run scored as Portland stopped Maple 7-6 at Legends Park.

Hitting for the cycle is one of the most difficult feats in baseball at any level. The odds are really against a player hitting a single, double, triple and a home run in the same game.

"It's the last thing on my mind really. I'm out there trying to get a blooper or a walk or whatever might help the team. Hitting for the cycle is probably as much about luck as about skill," Hobbs told reporters after the game.

He could be right, but it's not every day that someone hits for the cycle. That's why his name will be placed in the record book.

Mike Hobbs hit a solo-shot off Landy Lu in the 2nd, hit a two-run triple in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, struck out in the 7th, struck out in the 10th and singled in the 12th.

Thus far this season in 67 games Hobbs is batting .312 with 22 home runs, 64 RBIs and 47 runs scored. He has 86 hits in 276 at-bats.
