Bad Boy Brawlers Suspended 6 Games Tuesday, June 24th, 2025 The action was hot and heavy at a recent Eureka-Quebec game at The Nest in more ways than one. When tempers flared, both benches emptied and a mild melee ensued. The only thing hurt was a few players' pride. Two of the main figures in the brawl were suspended today by league officials. The Hornets Juan Jose Cortéz and Quebec's José Serrano will each miss 6 games for their roles in the fight. "We do not condone this kind of behavior on the field," the league announcement read. "As such, we believe that this punishment fits the actions taken by these two players. We hope that there will not be a repeat of the incident or else the consequences will be even more severe." This season Cortéz is swinging the bat at a .261 pace. He has hit 8 home runs and scored 34 times, while driving in 31. His on-base percentage is .323 and he has played in 59 games. This season Serrano has compiled a 5-8 mark, 4.50 ERA and made 15 starts. |
