Ortega Slaps 5 Hits
Sunday, May 25th, 2025
It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Manuel Ortega of the San Francisco Earthquakes. Ortega went on a tear at Legends Park and cracked hit after hit off Maple pitching. When the dust settled on the diamond, the 28-year-old shortstop had a career 5-for-5 day and something he will long remember. "Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but I don't think I'll tell 'em we lost," he joked in the BNN postgame interview. Ortega got the accolades today, but the Maple Marauders walked off the field with a 5-4 win. Manuel Ortega singled in the 1st, was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 11th and walked in the 13th.
Ortega is presently hitting at a .333 pace with no home runs and 4 RBIs. He has played in 30 games and scored 13 times.
