Cortéz Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 21 Thursday, July 25th, 2024 The Georgia Grays got more than a 3-1 victory over Eureka today at The Nest. They put an end to Juan Jose Cortéz's 21-game hitting spree by holding him without a hit in 1 at-bat. But it was no big deal to the Hornets second baseman. Cortéz seemed to feel more for his team than himself. "I had some great looks at some pitches that I should have hit. I missed some that I shouldn't have swung at. All in all, I wasn't much help with the bat today." Cortéz is presently hitting at a .309 pace with 20 home runs, 66 RBIs and has scored 60 times. |
