Romero No-Hits San Francisco
Wednesday, July 24th, 2024
No hitters are rare. But the fans at Bomber Ballpark received a special gift as Oliver Romero of the Bombers tossed a no-hitter against the San Francisco Earthquakes. He was masterful as he struck out 7 and walked 2 in a 6-0 South Carolina victory. In all Romero faced only 28 batters. Romero did not appear to have his best stuff in the early innings, but soon got into a groove and made quick work of the Earthquakes. He was helped by several defensive gems along the way.
The San Francisco manager said to the press after the no-hitter, "We had our chances in the first few innings, when he was hittable, but he shut us down totally in the last 4-5 innings."
"I had late movement that seemed to cause them a lot of trouble, especially from the fifth inning on," Romero said to reporters.
This season Romero has crafted a 9-9 mark with a 5.46 ERA in 128.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .287 against him and he has 86 strikeouts.
