Injury Takes Toll, Jorge Martínez Out Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024 The Republic received bad news this morning. Jorge Martínez will miss 4 weeks due to a torn ligament in his thumb. He sustained the injury in the So Cal-Dallas game while colliding with a player at home plate. "I'm disappointed more than anything," he told reporters later in the day. "You can't help your team on the bench," Martínez sighed. "I'll do the rehab work and hope for a quick recovery." To date, Martínez has collected 16 hits for a .381 average. He has posted 4 home runs, scored 13 runs and driven in 11 runs. |
