Republic Chill Nishikawa's Hot Streak Monday, June 24th, 2024 It was the best of both worlds for the So Cal Republic today at House of the Republic as they defeated the Brooklyn Black Knights 5-2 and also ended Kata Nishikawa's 23-game hitting streak. The 29-year-old Brooklyn right fielder failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Kata, we just wanted to win the game," said the victorious Republic skipper. "We did a great job keeping him off balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Nishikawa frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about my streak ending, but I would feel much better about things if we had won the game." This year Nishikawa is hitting at a .315 pace with 11 home runs and 50 RBIs. He has played in 75 games and scored 57 times. |
