Brown Goes 5-5 Thursday, September 14th, 2023 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. It might come around only once in a career -- a lot of players never have one -- but Bob Brown got one today. He scattered hits all over Stars & Stripes Stadium to pace Minnesota to a 18-5 victory over Manhattan Beach. The Manhattan Beach skipper told reporters in the press room, "Tip your hat to him. He hit some good pitches. According to the scouting report, Brown hit several that he is not supposed to hit." Bob Brown singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Bruce Fox in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and walked in the 8th. Thus far this season in 142 games Brown is batting .341 with 21 home runs, 92 RBIs and 90 runs scored. He has 201 hits in 589 at-bats. |
