Kimball Whitewashes Maple Monday, May 29th, 2023 Jeff Kimball of the Eureka Hornets was on top of his game today. He tantalized the Maple Marauders with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a 9-0 shutout. In the postgame comments, the Maple skipper said, "He had the changeup working. You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower." The Eureka hurler had 5 strikeouts, gave up 2 walks and surrendered 2 hits in his complete-game effort. Kimball told reporters after the game, "To be successful in this league, you have to keep the ball down. If you don't, they'll make you pay." So far this year Kimball has made 11 starts, tossed 76.2 innings, struck out 48 batters and walked 9. His record is 9-1 with a 3.40 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .258 batting average. |
