Nelson 5-6 for Bombers Tuesday, April 18th, 2023 On top of the South Carolina hit parade today was Bill Nelson. He went to the plate 6 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Bombers to a 7-6 victory over the Eureka Hornets. The sweet swinging first baseman told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." The skipper of the Hornets wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Bill Nelson singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Hitoshi Sato in the 6th, flied out in the 8th, singled in the 11th and hit an RBI single in the 12th. This season Nelson has hit at a .456 clip and produced 12 RBI, 6 home runs and 18 runs. |
