Oditón to Donate Kidney to Ailing Brother Sunday, March 12th, 2023 Manhattan Beach catcher León Oditón has decided to retire from baseball in order to donate a kidney to his brother. Doctors say Oditón's cousin, who has advanced kidney disease, probably won't survive without a new organ. "As much as I love the game of baseball, I love my brother more," said Oditón. "I'm just doing what I would hope someone would do for me if I needed it." Christian Hawk had nothing but praise for his teammate. "León is such an incredible guy. To walk away from all of this to help someone he cares about just shows how much class he has." His manager, Bobby Edwards, was equally impressed with Oditón's generosity. "It takes a lot of character to make a sacrifice like that. We wish him and his brother all the best and we'll definitely be praying for their speedy recovery." |
