It's Over: Patriots Stop Cheung
Friday, September 30th, 2022
Lu-po-teh Cheung saw his 20-game hitting streak wither and die today during the Texans 7-5 victory over Manhatten Beach at Stars & Stripes Stadium. The 25-year-old first baseman was held hitless in 3 at-bats by Patriots, but his Dallas teammates produced enough offense to garner the win.
Talking to reporters after the game, Cheung was upbeat. "Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit. How could you be unhappy after you have hit in 20 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. And I am really happy that we won another ballgame today. Life is good."
Cheung has a .293 average and a .341 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 104 hits, 17 home runs and driven in 60 runs.
