Davi and Byrd Fight, Get Suspended Tuesday, September 6th, 2022 One player challenged the other with some angry words at the Beavers-Toreros game at Waterfront Park yesterday. There was some pushing and shoving -- then the dugouts emptied. There was a lot of scuffling, but no punches thrown. When order was finally restored and the dust settled, the umpires ejected Portland's Baber Davi and Cabo San Lucas's Clarence Byrd. Now both antagonists will get some time off, courtesy of the league commissioner. They were suspended 14 games for inappropriate and aggressive behavior. In the 2022 season Davi is hitting .277 with 4 home runs. Up to now Byrd has compiled an ERA of 6.21 with a 6-9 mark over 24 starts. He has 99 strikeouts in 142 innings and has held opponents to a .276 batting average. |
