Hit #2000 for Bandits Shields Tuesday, July 19th, 2022 The day belonged to Tim Shields of the Montreal Bandits as he became the latest player to reach the 2000-hit plateau. He did it in Montreal's 15-3 win over Manhatten Beach. "It's a moment I'll never forget," said Shields after the game, "2000 hits is a lot. It puts you in a very select group. I never expected to be around long enough to reach a milestone like this." He finished the day with 2 hits in 6 at-bats. Shields is batting .347 lifetime with 2001 hits, 331 doubles, 19 triples, 77 home runs, 808 RBIs to date. He has also scored 892 runs. |
