Pérez Rips Cabo San Lucas for 5 Hits
Tuesday, May 31st, 2022
Georgia left fielder Rafael Pérez could do no wrong as he collected 5 hits against Cabo San Lucas, but he couldn't win the game. "It's a shame we didn't win. It would have been a very special day if that had happened. But it didn't. At least my batting average didn't take a plunge, too," he said. The Grays were beaten 10-4 at The Death Star by the Toreros. "In every one of his at-bats, things were in his favor... he got hitter's counts," the skipper of the Toreros said to the press corps after the game. Pérez agreed. "The key is getting ahead. Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit. You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready." Rafael Pérez singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
Pérez is presently hitting at a .308 pace with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs and has scored 27 times.
