Republic Kim Jr. Raps 3 Homers
Sunday, May 1st, 2022
Jong-min Kim Jr. of the So Cal Republic had a lot to celebrate in today's 17-3 win over the Jacksonville Jacks. Three times he celebrated by pounding the ball out of Skellington Stadium.
He kiddingly told reporters after the game, "Hopefully, I can continue to close my eyes and swing as hard as I can. It worked well today."
The powerful So Cal third baseman tagged 4 hits in 6 at-bats, drove in 7 runs and scored 3 times in his three-homer outburst.
Kim Jr. added, "Seriously, I just try to swing early and often to give myself a chance. I let the pitcher supply all the power, I just try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."
"We talked about changing our strategy for the third one ... and then he hit another homer," the Jacksonville manager said. "We just couldn't get him out."
Jong-min Kim Jr. grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit a GRAND SLAM off William Robillard in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off José Lituma in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Kuniaki Imai in the 9th.
This season Kim Jr. is batting .324 with 18 RBIs, 22 runs scored and 5 home runs.
