Roberto Clemente League Announces #1 Starter Tuesday, June 1st, 2021 The Dallas Texans celebrated today after the news filtered through the clubhouse that Nicolas Rodrigues had been selected as May's Roberto Clemente League Pitcher of the Month. Rodrigues's zest for the game has been a frequent topic on the sports pages and his numbers of late have made his fans even more enthusiastic. "Our coaching staff really helps me prepare well," Rodrigues said, "and the fans feed off good pitching. Your pitches just seem to have that extra pop to them when the fans are behind you and you feel confident you can get outs." Rodrigues tossed 43 innings last month, holding opponents to a .142 average while striking out 37 batters. In 6 starting assignments he came away with a 3-0 record, putting together an ERA of 1.26. Rodrigues has started 10 times this year, pitched 68.2 innings, fanned 50 batters and walked 24. His current record is 5 wins and 2 losses with a 2.23 ERA. |
