Tsugiharu Shimizu Will Miss 6 Months
Wednesday, August 9th, 2023
The Dragons will be minus Tsugiharu Shimizu for about 6 months after the reliever suffered a ruptured bicep tendon while throwing a pitch in a recent game against Tokyo Yakult. Shimizu and the Chunichi skipper were hoping further examination might show there was less damage than originally thought and he would be absent a shorter duration.
Taking a look at his season, Shimizu has made 9 relief appearances, recorded 1 save and compiled a 0-0 won-lost mark and a 6.89 ERA. In pitching 15.2 innings, he has totaled 18 strikeouts and 15 walks.
