Big Bat Pays Off, Matsumoto Player of the Week Monday, May 1st, 2023 So far in his young career, Kohei Matsumoto has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Pacific League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 18-year-old ORIX Buffaloes first baseman hit at a torrid .450 clip as he collected 9 hits in 20 at-bats, 4 home runs, 9 RBIs and 6 runs scored. So far this season Matsumoto is batting .341 with 14 home runs, 30 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has 45 hits in 132 at-bats, 24 walks and a .453 OBP. Matsumoto has played in 37 games. |
