Bad News for Fukuoka SoftBank, Chao-yang Chio Hurt
Tuesday, May 31st, 2022
The Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks will have to make do without Chao-yang Chio for 9 months. He suffered a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament while throwing a pitch in the game today against the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters. His teammates, understandably, were upset about losing the reliever. "That's a tough break for him," one of them said. "But this team is resilient. We will just fill in until he gets back."
To date this year Chio has saved 0 games while tossing 27.2 innings. He has a 3.25 ERA, fanned 33 batters and made 22 relief appearances.
