Castillo Takes RDL Cy Young Award Saturday, May 21st, 2022 The Texas A&M clubhouse staff referred to him as "the kid" this season. Next year José Castillo will have to have a new nickname. He earned it after winning the 2022 Rod Dedeaux League Cy Young Award. Castillo made 12 starts this year, winning 6 and losing 0. He threw 74.2 innings, fanned 80, allowed 65 hits and 28 walks, while holding opposing teams to a .233 average as he logged an impressive 2.29 ERA.Fred Price of the Long Beach State 49'ers finished second in voting, while John Holmes of the Ole Miss Rebels finished third. |
