Georgia's Delancey Suspended for 4 Games
Friday, April 9th, 2021
There was a hostile encounter between Don Delancey and the men in blue in yesterday's Georgia-South Illinois game. The Bulldogs left fielder was tossed for arguing a called third strike. Actually he did a little more than just complain about the call -- he got in the umpire's face and had to be restrained by his manager.
"I don't think I did anything to deserve to be thrown out of the game in the first place, never mind be suspended," Delancey stated. "That's unbelievable. I still don't know why he threw me out of the game. I didn't charge over there until after he gave me the heave-ho."
The league office did not agree with his assessment of the confrontation and suspended Delancey for 4 games.
So far this year Delancey has hit .144 with no home runs, 7 RBIs and 8 runs scored.
