Three home runs in a game doesn't happen often. When it does it is usually something special to celebrate. But Gilberto Jiménez of Palm Beach couldn't really celebrate it. In spite of his career day, the Bums lost to the Princes 10-9. However, he can celebrate that he joined a select group of players who have hit three home runs in a single game. He powered three into the stands today against the Bel Air Princes.

In all he was 4-5 against Bel Air with 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

Jiménez told reporters after the game, "It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run. Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today I tried on the last one."

His manager added, "He is blessed with a natural home run swing. He gets the ball up in the air real quickly. It's just a shame we couldn't win the game, too. I'm sure it spoils the day a little for him. Gilberto is quite a competitor."

Gilberto Jiménez hit a solo-shot off Ramón Gómez in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Ramón Gómez in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Harold Hayne in the 8th and singled in the 9th.

Thus far this year Jiménez has hit .349 with 16 home runs and 46 RBIs.
