24-Game Streak Ends, Aparecida Hitless
Tuesday, August 16th, 2022
Maybe it really is taboo to talk about a hitting streak before it's over. Hours after speaking to the press about his 24-game hitting streak, Beach City center fielder Dionísio Aparecida went hitless in 3 at-bats today in the Seals 4-1 win over Baltimore at Old Bay Park.
In a postgame interview, he said, "Nope, not superstitious. Streaks don't last forever. Nobody jinxed me. I've heard about it every day for weeks now. My roomie told me to get a hit before every game and wished me luck. I just ran out of hits."
His manager said, "It's not like we could go 24 games without talking to him."
Aparecida currently has a .357 batting average with 60 hits, 3 homers, 23 RBIs, 38 runs scored and a .401 OBP.
