Cy Young Award Goes to Payne Tuesday, October 31st, 2023 "Turn out the lights, the party's over" was Dorian Payne's favorite saying this year as he strolled in from the bullpen to a deafening roar from the crowd. The Ford Frick League made official today what the Rock River Rats and their fans have known all year: He's not just the best closer in the league -- he's the 2023 Ford Frick League Cy Young Award winner. Payne converted 1 save this year with a 8-0 won-lost record and 1.42 ERA. He appeared in 50 games and struck out 88 in 82.1 innings. Bryan Lynch of the San Antonio Storm Troopers finished second in voting, while Joshua Goldberg of the Sandy Springs Spartans finished third. |
