Great Stroke: Cummins Gets 5 Hits Monday, August 29th, 2022 "Ever since I picked up my first bat my coaches were always saying to keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing... just make contact and ya never know what'll happen," Sandy Springs's Shawn Cummins told reporters after the game. "That's all I did today. I made contact and it turned out well." It definitely turned out well for Cummins today as he collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats against New York. It turned out well for his team, too, as the Spartans knocked off the Ninjas 21-3 at Confucius Field. Shawn Cummins singled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jeremy Callahan in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and walked in the 9th. A look at his current stats shows Cummins with a .317 average, 18 home runs, 78 RBIs and 63 runs scored. He has played in 88 games. |
