Martínez Sensational, 5-6 Monday, August 22nd, 2022 History in the making. That's what the fans at Bloomfield Road got to see today, when West Coast outplayed the Beetlecats 7-6. Lúcio Martínez of the Defenders came to the plate 6 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against Buzzard's Bay. In the postgame press conference the Buzzard's Bay skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink." Lúcio Martínez flied out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 10th. So far on the season Martínez is hitting .265 with 5 home runs, 55 RBIs and 53 runs scored. He has 88 hits and played in 110 games. |
