Jail Birds Ralph Bergeron Sidelined Sunday, August 7th, 2022 Ralph Bergeron at first refused to leave today's West Coast-Newark game after he suffered a torn flexor tendon in his elbow while throwing a pitch. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I want to be on the field," the feisty Newark reliever said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Bergeron out of action for 13 months. Bergeron has made 40 relief appearances this year and notched 6 saves. To date in 56.1 innings he has a 3-0 record, 3.51 ERA with 52 strikeouts and 23 walks. |
