5-Hit Game for Place Friday, April 8th, 2022 It was an almost perfect day. Newark second baseman Quentin Place displayed a hot bat today, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day. But something was missing -- the Jail Birds failed to win -- they lost to the Silicon Valley Hackers 21-10. "Some days, Lady Luck is on your side, some days she's not," he modestly told BNN reporters after the game. His manager told the beat writers otherwise, "His hitting wasn't luck today. It's his solid approach to hitting. Quentin is focused, patient and he hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have, and vice versa." The 20-year-old second baseman for the Jail Birds collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats to get his name in the record book. Quentin Place singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, flied out in the 7th and singled in the 9th. |
