5 Hits for Bumblebees Compton
Monday, September 18th, 2023
On top of the Pasadena hit parade today was Oscar Compton. He went to the plate 5 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Bumblebees to a 15-3 victory over the Joplin Fireballs. The sweet swinging third baseman told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." The skipper of the Fireballs wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Oscar Compton hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th and doubled in the 7th.
Compton is batting at a .343 pace this season, picking up 79 hits in 230 at-bats with 3 home runs, 41 RBIs and 30 runs scored.
