Jones Goes 5-6 Against Winston
Wednesday, September 7th, 2022
It doesn't happen very often, but it happened for Oscar Jones -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage at Durham Bulls Athletic Park and paced the Bulls to a 16-3 win over the Winston Unionists. After his dynamite batting performance the Durham shortstop told the press, "I just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid some great dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Oscar Jones struck out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run single in the 8th.
This year Jones has collected a .301 batting average to date with 100 hits in 332 at-bats, 51 RBIs, 10 home runs and scored 67 times. He has played in 86 games.
