Verney Batters Astoria Big Time Saturday, May 28th, 2022 All game long Bronx's Graham Verney was rattling the walls at Golden Fleece Park and banging out base hits against the Astoria Argonauts. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Bombers had a 14-10 victory. Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 21-year-old center fielder said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this." Graham Verney hit a solo-shot off George Bedford in the 1st, tripled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and walked in a run in the 8th. This season Verney is batting .413 with 27 RBIs, 25 runs scored and 3 home runs. |
