Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl
Monday, May 16th, 2022
At a recent Freedom-Mustangs contest at The Bell, Angelito Márquez of Philadelphia took exception to what Armand Merlin of Billings said to him and tackled him. This led to an old-fashioned bench-clearing free-for-all between the two clubs. After the umpires restored order, they ejected both players.
Today the league commissioner's office took action and suspended each player for 9 games, citing them for "inappropriate and aggressive conduct."
Presently Márquez is batting .365 and has collected 2 home runs, 14 RBIs, .412 OBP and scored 8 runs.
This year Merlin has registered 2 wins and 2 losses in 8 starts with a 4.70 ERA while registering 35 strikeouts and 15 walks in 44 innings.
