9-Game Suspensions for Lawson-Cruz Fight
Monday, May 22nd, 2023
Bad blood could be brewing between the Mustangs and the Beavers. In yesterday's contest at McNichols Stadium, Mile High's Dillon Lawson and Portland's Wilson Cruz caused the benches to empty when they went toe-to-toe against one another. Only Lawson and Cruz were ejected by the umpires.
Upon hearing that the two players had been suspended 9 games each by the league office, harsh comments came from both clubhouses.
League officials have warned both organizations about the consequences of premeditated retaliation.
So far this season, Lawson has recorded a .238 batting average with 39 hits, 11 home runs, 28 RBIs, 21 runs scored and a .314 OBP.
Cruz has started 9 times this year, pitched 56.1 innings, fanned 31 batters and walked 26. His current record is 2 wins and 2 losses with a 3.51 ERA.
