3-HR Day for Toyoda Saturday, July 30th, 2022 Georgia won't soon forget the display of raw power put on today by Akio Toyoda of the Kansas City Tornadoes. He victimized the Grays by pounding three pitches out of Debris Field. The homers sparked his club to a 12-3 win and got him a spot in the league record book. "I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," Toyoda told reporters. "Today I was in a groove ... tomorrow I could just pop up the same pitches and go oh-for-three." In addition to the homers, he collected 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs. Akio Toyoda hit a solo-shot off J.R. Murphy in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off J.R. Murphy in the 3rd, grounded out in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Dennis Stanford in the 7th. This season Toyoda is swinging the bat at a .311 rate with 130 hits in 418 at-bats. To date he has hit 32 home runs, scored 73 runs and driven in 108. |
