5-Hit Barrage by Thompson Friday, May 13th, 2022 On top of the Portland hit parade today was Pat Thompson. He went to the plate 6 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Beavers to a 15-3 victory over the San Francisco Earthquakes. The sweet swinging second baseman told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." The skipper of the Earthquakes wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Pat Thompson singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and grounded out in the 9th. This year Thompson is batting .427 with 2 home runs. He has scored 34 runs and driven in 22. |
