Texans Snap García's Streak at 23
Thursday, July 8th, 2021
The Dallas Texans did something to Octávio García no team had done for the last 23 games -- they held him hitless and stopped his consecutive-game hitting streak. But they didn't stop the Mafia. New York came away with a 4-2 victory at Don Corleone Park.
Commenting on the demise of the streak, the 27-year-old first baseman told BNN, "Hey, I knew it wasn't going to last forever, but it was a good ride while it lasted."
García has collected 87 hits for the Mafia this year, 15 of them home runs. He has also netted 47 RBIs and scored 55 runs while batting .297.
