Kansas City Dazzled, Vega Hurls No-Hitter Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021 In a dominant outing, Luis Vega of Eureka totally silenced the bats of the Kansas City Tornadoes. In the 14-0 victory he faced only 28 batters, surrendered no hits, had 3 strikeouts and 1 walk. "I'll be very honest with you," his manager said. "I didn't know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning. I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had. Then I happened to notice that they didn't have any hits." Commenting on his defeat, the losing manager told reporters in the clubhouse how he saw the game, "Well, it was pretty simple today, the Hornets had all the hits and all the runs. And Vega pitched a heck of a ballgame." Up to now Vega has compiled an ERA of 4.61 with a 4-4 mark over 14 starts. He has 57 strikeouts in 82 innings and has held opponents to a .256 batting average. |
