Au Torches Beavers for 5 Hits Tuesday, June 15th, 2021 History in the making. That's what the fans at Labatt Bleue Park got to see today in the Portland 14-13 triumph over the Bandits. Li-chi Au of the Montreal came to the plate 6 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against the Beavers. "It was a great day for me, but a disappointing one for our fans," he said to the reporters covering the game. "I wish I could have won it for them. They like stats, but they love winning." In the postgame press conference the Portland skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink. I am just glad we escaped with a win. Au was lethal." Li-chi Au flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and doubled in the 10th. So far this season Au has hit .327 with 6 home runs, 34 RBIs and and scored 39 times. |
