Hawks Bakhtiyarov Smacks 5 Hits Tuesday, September 7th, 2021 5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book. The latest honoree is Roman Bakhtiyarov of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. Today he beat up their pitching to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but it was the Yokohama Bay Stars that salvaged a 12-5 victory at Cuckoos Stadium. "Bakhtiyarov was a tough out today," the Yokohama manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure. I'm just glad we held everybody else in check and got the win." Speaking to the BNN writers, Bakhtiyarov added, "It was a real good day for me individually, but not a good one for the team. No loss is a good one." Roman Bakhtiyarov hit a two-run home run off Almas bin Su'ud in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. In the 2021 season Bakhtiyarov is hitting .255 with 4 home runs. |
