Vuppula Stretches Hit String to 33 Saturday, June 12th, 2021 The Yomiuri Giants stopped the ORIX Buffaloes today 11-8 and Apupa Vuppula was able to hit safely again. The Yomiuri second baseman got 4 hits and ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 33. Vuppula was excited after the victory and told the press, "I want to get a hit every time up. I want to get a hit every game I play. I want to win every game for the greatest fans in the world, Giants fans!" Apupa Vuppula singled in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Hsi-men Chen in the 9th. Looking at his stats this year, Vuppula has compiled a .400 batting average, while hitting 5 home runs and driving in 39 runs. He has played in 58 games and scored 55 runs. |
