Hornets de Smet Sizzles with Cycle Sunday, October 3rd, 2021 Getting 4 hits in a game is a pretty good feat, but when those 4 hits include a single, a double, a triple and a home run -- that makes it extra special. The Bethesda shortstop did just that, hitting for the cycle and sparking the Hornets to a 10-0 victory over the Sting at Woodland Park. The elated de Smet told reporters, "Winning is the name of the game ... and hitting for the cycle puts a little icing on it." The 4-4 day was also good for his batting average as he saw it rise a few percentage points. In addition, de Smet had 4 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Marnix de Smet hit a two-run double in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Bing-de Ku in the 4th, singled in the 6th, walked in a run in the 7th and tripled in the 9th. de Smet's current batting average stands at .253 and he has chalked up 9 home runs and 58 RBIs. |
