Gibbs Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 20
Monday, May 17th, 2021
The Phantoms lost to Minneapolis today by the score of 8-4 at The Ice Box, but the bigger story was the end of a hit streak. Coronado first baseman Jerry Gibbs was working on a 20-game hitting streak, but went 0-for-3 against the Freeze as the hot stretch came to an end.
Gibbs is batting at a .348 pace this season, picking up 48 hits in 138 at-bats with 9 home runs, 38 RBIs and 22 runs scored.
