Espinosa Smacks 3 Out of the Park
Saturday, September 18th, 2021
"It seems kinda odd, you know. I mean hitting three home runs in one game should be enough to win a game, right?" said a somewhat dejected José Espinosa today after his club's 11-8 defeat to Kansas City.
"I guess that's why they call it a team sport. Tomorrow I might strike out four times and other guys pick me up and we win. It takes more than one guy to get a win."
The 28-year-old Georgia third baseman had a fantastic day against the Kansas City Tornadoes -- 3 homers, 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs, and 3 scored.
There were no complaints from the Tornadoes locker room after the game, however. "That guy really had a game, didn't he? Luckily we were able to pretty much shut down the rest of the team," one of the Kansas City players told the reporters. "We feel good about getting out of here with the win!"
José Espinosa hit a solo-shot off Rodney Armstrong in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Rodney Armstrong in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Rodney Armstrong in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
In the current season, Espinosa has put up a .272 batting average with 145 hits, 33 home runs, 109 runs batted in and scored 79 runs.
