Outlaws Chill García's Hot Streak
Tuesday, August 10th, 2021
It was the best of both worlds for the Brooklyn Outlaws today at Don Corleone Park as they defeated the New York Mafia 8-2 and also ended Octávio García's 26-game hitting streak. The 28-year-old New York first baseman failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Octávio, we just wanted to win the game," said the victorious Outlaws skipper. "We did a great job keeping him off balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, García frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about my streak ending, but I would feel much better about things if we had won the game."
García is batting at a .328 pace this season, picking up 135 hits in 411 at-bats with 25 home runs, 76 RBIs and 79 runs scored.
