Murphy Slaps 5 Hits Tuesday, May 18th, 2021 Eureka first baseman Baden Murphy could do no wrong as he collected 5 hits against Kansas City, but he couldn't win the game. "It's a shame we didn't win. It would have been a very special day if that had happened. But it didn't. At least my batting average didn't take a plunge, too," he said. The Hornets were beaten 12-11 at Debris Field by the Tornadoes. "In every one of his at-bats, things were in his favor... he got hitter's counts," the skipper of the Tornadoes said to the press corps after the game. Murphy agreed. "The key is getting ahead. Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit. You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready." Baden Murphy singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, doubled in the 7th, grounded out in the 8th and singled in the 10th. This season Murphy has hit 15 home runs and posted a .374 batting average. |
